BINUS University Launches Scholarship to Strengthen Commitment to Produce Talented Impact for Indonesia
JAKARTA - Indonesia has many young talents with growing potential in various fields. However, the opportunity to access quality higher education is still not felt evenly.
Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Gross Participation Rate (APK) of higher education in Indonesia is currently still in the range of 31.45 percent, while the government targets an increase to 38.04 percent by 2029. This condition shows that there are still many high school graduates who have not continued their education to the university level, so collaboration is needed from various parties to expand access to quality education.
Responding to this challenge, BINUS University again presents the BINUS Scholarship for the 2027/2028 academic year, a scholarship program that supports young Indonesian talents to develop their potential in various fields, ranging from academics, sports, digital creativity, leadership, to social contributions.
Through various scholarship schemes, BINUS University strives to expand access to higher education while presenting a learning ecosystem that encourages the birth of young talents who are ready to work and have an impact on Indonesia.
The Rector of BINUS University, Dr. Nelly, S.Kom., M.M., said that through the BINUS Scholarship, BINUS University wants to open more opportunities for the younger generation of Indonesia to develop and prepare themselves for the future.
"BINUS Scholarship is not only a financial aid for education, but an opportunity for young Indonesian talents to grow in a learning ecosystem that is relevant to the future. We want every student to have a space to develop academic potential, character, leadership, and creativity so that they are not only ready to face changes, but also able to present solutions and provide a positive impact for Indonesia," said Dr. Nelly, Tuesday, July 28.
In addition to introducing the BINUS Scholarship, this press conference also presents inspiring stories from three scholarship recipients who represent the diverse potential of the Indonesian young generation, ranging from sports, academic achievements, to digital creativity. Their stories show that the right opportunity can be a starting point for young talents to continue to grow through education.
Keira Hadinoto, one of the recipients of the Student Athlete Scholarship, shared her experience of having two roles as a student and athlete that require discipline and consistency in dividing time.
"Every practice and competition teaches me the meaning of discipline, while education helps me prepare for the future. This scholarship makes me more confident to continue pursuing both without having to choose one. I hope more and more students who have achieved will dare to take this opportunity. For me, education and achievement are not only about achieving personal dreams, but also a provision for one day to be able to contribute to Indonesia," said Keira.
In line with Keira, Akmal Insan Purwandha as a Widia Scholarship recipient also shared the meaning of the scholarship he received as an encouragement to continue to study and develop himself.
"Receiving this scholarship makes me very grateful because it is not only an achievement for myself, but also a pride for the family. The support and prayers from parents are one of the biggest strengths for me to continue to fight and give my best. This opportunity further motivates me to continue to learn, develop myself, and one day be able to have a positive impact on others and Indonesia. I also want to invite friends to not hesitate to try every scholarship opportunity, because every effort and courage to try can open the way to a better future," he explained.
Meanwhile, the recipient of the BINUSFLUENCER Scholarship, Almeyda Nayara admitted that the program was a motivation to continue to utilize creativity in the digital space in a positive and responsible manner.
"I started it all from an interest in creating content and sharing things I love. In going through this process, I always communicate every step and opportunity to my parents. Their support, trust, and blessing make me more confident to continue to develop creativity positively. I never thought that this journey could open up opportunities for me to get a scholarship. For me, creativity is not only opening opportunities for myself, but also a way to present content that is positive, inspiring, and has an impact on more people," he said.
As part of this commitment, BINUS University also continues to strengthen the learning experience of students through the Digital Transformation & AI Experience Ecosystem. Through this ecosystem, students are equipped with the ability to understand and utilize technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), appropriately, ethically, creatively, and responsibly. This approach is part of BINUS University's efforts to prepare graduates who are adaptive to technological developments while being able to use them responsibly.
BINUS University's commitment to providing quality education is also strengthened through its recognition as the No. 1 Private University in Indonesia based on the QS World University Rankings 2027. This achievement reflects BINUS University's ongoing efforts to provide a learning experience that is relevant to industry developments and community needs.
Through the BINUS Scholarship, BINUS University hopes that more Indonesian young talents will have the opportunity to develop their potential and realize their dreams through quality higher education. With the support of a learning ecosystem that is relevant to the development of the times, BINUS University is committed to continue to produce generations that are ready to face the future while providing a positive impact on society.
