JAKARTA - An internship doctor with the initials SZM died after allegedly falling from the 18th floor of an apartment in the Kalibata area, Pancoran, South Jakarta. Until now, the police are still investigating the exact cause of the incident by examining a number of witnesses.

Pancoran Police Chief Kompol Mansur said investigators had not concluded the cause of the victim's death. All possibilities, including other factors that underlie the incident, are still being investigated.

"For the new examination, it is only the examination of witnesses. Witnesses who are at the crime scene, including security officers who are there. So what is the indication, whether there are other factors, it is still in the process of investigation," said Mansur when contacted by the media, Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

In addition to examining witnesses, the police have also not been able to carry out a thorough investigation of the crime scene at the victim's apartment unit on the 18th floor. This is because the unit door is still locked from the inside.

"Not yet. Because the key is in the hanging and it is also seized from the inside," he said.

Mansur explained that the apartment door was allegedly using additional security in the form of a manual lock from the inside so that it could not be opened from the outside.

Meanwhile, the victim's body has been repatriated to his hometown in Makassar for burial. Before being sent, the victim only underwent an external examination or external visa at the hospital.

"It has been autopsied outside, outside division, then immediately flown to Makassar," said Mansur.

Police confirmed that the investigation was still ongoing to find out exactly what caused the young doctor's death.

It is known that the incident occurred on Sunday, July 26, 2026, based on the results of the initial investigation, the victim lived with her mother in the apartment unit.

Mansur revealed that before the incident, the mother had invited the victim to go to the shopping center. However, the invitation was rejected and the victim chose to stay in the apartment.

"He lived with his mother. At that time, his mother invited him to go to the mall, but the victim did not want to and chose to stay in the apartment," he said.

He said that after the mother left the apartment, the unit door was locked from the inside. Some time later, the victim was found falling from the 18th floor.

During the evacuation process, said Mansur, officers found the victim's body was stuck on the balcony before finally falling to the ground floor. The joint team then evacuated the body at around 14.30 WIB and took it to the Kramat Jati Polri Hospital for further examination.

"The victim fell from the 18th floor. He was stuck on the balcony before finally falling down. The body was then evacuated to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital," explained Mansur.
