Metro Police: Tangsel Police Narcotics Chief Not Involved in Narcotics Case

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya confirmed that the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit (Kasat Resnarkoba) of the South Tangerang Police was not involved in the case of possession and circulation of 200 cartridges of etomidate which is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police.

"We clarify the information that the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police and five others were not involved, with two people being detained or processed by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto at a press conference, reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 27.

He explained, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police through the Narcotics Crime Directorate had previously conducted an investigation and arrested two suspects with initials MR and DD related to the circulation of etomidate.

"The two suspects consist of one person with the rank of Narcotics Officer at the Tangerang Police and one person from the Aceh Police," said Budi.

Although not directly involved in the circulation of illegal goods, the Head of Narcotics of the South Tangerang Police and five other members still undergo an examination by the Professional and Security Division (Bid Propam) of the Metro Jaya Police.

The examination focuses on the form of supervision and control of the leadership over subordinates (waskat).

"As a Kasat, there is a responsibility for supervision. Does the person concerned know that his members are committing a criminal offense of narcotics? That is what Bid Propam is investigating," he said.

He emphasized that the Metro Jaya Police Chief had a very firm commitment and did not look at the members who were involved in drugs, both as users and dealers.

The results of the internal examination by the Bid Propam of the Metro Jaya Police will be presented transparently to the public after the deepening process is completed.

The Directorate of Narcotics Crime (Dittipidnarkoba) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police arrested the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Police, AKP Pardiman, regarding an alleged drug trafficking case.

Director of Narcotics Crime of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brig. Gen. Pol. Eko Hadi Santoso in Jakarta, Monday, said that AKP Pardiman was suspected of being involved in the case of drug trafficking, drug abuse, and abuse of authority in enforcing drug cases.

AKP Pardiman was arrested along with six of his members as well as a member of the Aceh Police.

"The complete release will be further conveyed," said Eko regarding the chronology and development of handling the case.
