Polda Metro Sita Rp220 Juta dari Kasus Propaganda Digital Sebar Hoaks-Provokasi

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya has seized evidence of cash amounting to Rp. 220 million and is investigating the potential misuse of state funds in the case of a network of makers and distributors of false news content (hoaks), slander, and provocation on social media.

Dirreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Iman Imanuddin explained that the hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash seized were confirmed to be part of the payment for the project to create misleading content which is known to have been operating since 2024.

"Meanwhile, the social media platforms used by the perpetrators include X, Threads, Instagram, and Facebook. The content produced and disseminated is provocative, slanderous, manipulating electronic data, and attacking honor," he said at a press conference reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 27.

His party is now also opening up opportunities to investigate alleged corruption.

This was done to investigate the possibility of the use of state funds by the project's applicant to finance the disinformation action.

"If the money used to pay for these projects comes from state finances, of course we will deepen the alleged misuse of state finances that resulted in state losses," he said.

Regarding this network movement scheme, the police have arrested and detained an intermediary figure who acts as a coordinator between the main orderer and the content creators and buzzers.

Based on the results of the investigation, the payment from the main applicant to the coordinator was made in cash. However, the distribution of funds from the coordinator to the content creators and buzzers was carried out through the bank transfer mechanism.

"The value per project offered varies, depending on the time interval, issues, and level of difficulty. From the results of the examination, the motivation of the suspects is purely to obtain economic benefits from the employer," he said.

Iman also explained that currently the investigation team is still continuing to deepen to pursue the main orderer (main order) and map all social media accounts that are driven by the group.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Police has dismantled an organized digital propaganda syndicate that spreads false news (hoaks), slander, and provocation on social media.

Dirreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin explained that in the disclosure, the police managed to arrest and detain eight suspects.

"Currently, in its entirety, whether it's the fund manager, the project provider, the content creator, the content distributor, the manager and owner of the account, we have all taken security or arrests," said Iman.
