Bulungan Regency Government Evaluates WFH ASN, Regent Syarwani Reconsiders Full-time Work from Office
TANJUNG SELOR - The North Kalimantan Regency Government (Pemkab) Bulungan is evaluating the Work From Home (WFH) or Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy that has been in effect every Friday for state civil servants (ASN).
The results of the evaluation will be the basis for the local government to decide whether the policy will continue or be stopped in order to improve the quality of public services.
The Regent of Bulungan, Syarwani, said that discussions regarding the termination of WFH/WFA are still ongoing internally in the local government. Evaluations are carried out to ensure that the productivity of the apparatus and the effectiveness of government administration are maintained.
"We are still evaluating and considering this, internally there has been discussion that WFH or WFA on Friday will no longer be enforced," said Syarwani.
If the decision is agreed upon, the Bulungan Regency Government will immediately issue an official letter as the basis for implementing the new policy.
"We want the administration to run more effectively so that all ASN can work full-time from the office, including on Fridays," said Syarwani, Monday, July 27.
Syarwani said that until now there has been no latest directive from the central government regulating the deadline for implementing WFH and WFA.
"This condition provides room for local governments to adjust policies according to the needs of organizations and services to the community," he said.
He emphasized that the plan to stop WFH was not because the system was considered to have failed. According to him, the presence of ASN directly in the office makes it easier to coordinate between work units, strengthens supervision, and accelerates the public service process.
"This does not mean that WFH is not optimal. It's just that, with physical presence in the office, service to the public can be more optimal and supervision of employee performance is also easier to do," he said.
Syarwani revealed that his party maintains public confidence in the performance of the apparatus. Because, he does not want a negative perception related to the implementation of WFH, including the assumption that some ASN do not carry out their duties optimally when working outside the office.
"Don't let there be a spotlight when WFH, there are more people in the warung or other places. That is also a note for us," he said.
Syarwani said ASN in the Bulungan Regency Government environment would receive additional employee income (TPP) which was given based on performance achievements. Therefore, the government is interested in ensuring that each employee carries out their duties to the maximum and provides the best service to the community.
"TPP is given as a form of appreciation for performance. If you work from the office, of course, supervision of work effectiveness will be easier to do. Hopefully, the service to the community will also be better," he said.
