Kratingdaeng Red Bull Power Race is looking for Indonesian representatives to compete at the Southeast Asian level
JAKARTA - The Indonesian fitness world has introduced a new sports trend that combines speed, physical endurance, and mental endurance. Kratingdaeng Red Bull Power Race was officially introduced in Indonesia as the first fitness racing competition with a unique format that can be followed by various communities, both professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
The National Qualifier for Indonesia is scheduled to take place at the Basketball Hall of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Central Jakarta, on October 10. This event is a selection venue for local participants to compete for tickets to the Southeast Asian level competition.
Technically, Power Race introduces the concept of a relatively simple but endurance-testing sports challenge. Unlike the general functional fitness event, which often requires special equipment or complicated techniques, this sport relies entirely on body weight and running movements.
In this competition, each participant must complete four 400-meter running sessions interspersed with three physical movement challenge posts as quickly as possible. The posts include 40 push-ups for men or 30 for women, followed by 40 sit-ups (30 for women), and 40 squats (30 for women), before finally reaching the finish line.
Although it looks easy on paper, the key to conquering the Power Race lies in energy management and race strategy. Every second of transition between the two sessions is crucial in determining the final total time.
Sigurd Meiche as Program Director Red Bull Power Race explained, the simplicity of the movement format is actually the main attraction of this event for the general public.
"Power Race is built on movements that almost everyone knows - running, push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. It is this simplicity that makes this competition format so interesting," said Sigurd Meiche at a press conference in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Sunday, July 26.
He added, this race requires participants to not only rely on physical fitness, but also calmness in making decisions in the midst of fatigue.
"Athletes must be able to regulate the rhythm, stay calm when faced with fatigue, and find ways to continue to give the best performance when every second is very decisive," he continued.
The enthusiasm of the Indonesian people towards the functional fitness trend is also recognized by the local organizers. Head of Marketing PT Aktif Energi Indonesia (AEI), Arif Ritonga, assessed this event as an important momentum for the development of the fitness community in the country.
"The main strength of this competition lies in its inclusive nature. We remove technical barriers by using movements that are already very familiar in everyday life," said Arif.
Furthermore, Supasita Kraisri as Chief Global Marketing Officer of the TCP Group said that his party believes that sports have the power to unite people, inspire ambition, and create opportunities for everyone to challenge themselves.
"Through Red Bull Power Race, we want to create a competition that is easy to understand, interesting to watch, and can be followed by the general public. This format rewards not only physical fitness, but also determination, calmness, and the willingness to push yourself beyond limits when it is most needed," said Supasita.
"We hope that this competition can inspire more people to participate, test their abilities, and discover the potential they have," he concluded.
Through the qualifying round in Jakarta, as many as 12 best male athletes and 12 best female athletes with the fastest time will be entitled to represent Indonesia. The winners of the qualifiers will be sent to compete in the Red Bull Power Race International Final held in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 18, 2026, facing representatives from Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand.
