Police Arrest 5 Suspects in the Pengeroyokan of Chicken Thieves who Died in Tabanan

TABANAN - The Tabanan Police have named five people as suspects in a case of alleged beating of a man with the initials KD who allegedly stole two chickens in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Batunya Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan, Bali.

The five suspects are MJ, WS, KB, ML and ND.

Tabanan Police Chief AKBP I Putu Bayu Pati explained that his party handled two cases at once, namely the alleged criminal act of theft handled by the Baturiti Police and the alleged criminal act of violence together which caused the victim to die.

Although it has named 5 suspects, the police have not yet revealed the role of the five suspects.

"We can't say the role of each of them because it is still being deepened," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 27.

According to the Police Chief, the incident began when residents secured a man suspected of stealing two chickens. The victim was said to have previously disturbed the community due to suspected similar theft.

However, the Police Chief emphasized that self-judgement cannot be justified under any circumstances.

The entire legal process, he said, must be handed over to law enforcement officials in accordance with applicable regulations.

"The public is urged to maintain a safe, peaceful, and conducive kamtibmas situation and not to take any action outside the law," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tabanan Police, AKP Made Teddy Satria Permana, said investigators had examined 18 witnesses in the case.

From the results of the investigation, five people have been named as suspects in the alleged beating.

"Previously they were examined as witnesses. However, after we checked with the electronic evidence we had and was confirmed by other witnesses, that's why we set them as suspects," he said.

The investigation is still ongoing and it is not ruled out that there will be an addition of suspects if new evidence is found.

The police are also investigating the case of burning a motorcycle that occurred after the incident by examining a number of witnesses and collecting evidence.

The Tabanan Police emphasized its commitment to thoroughly investigate all series of events professionally, objectively, and according to legal procedures.
