Indonesian Embassy in Algiers Prepares 'Indonesia Corner' at Local Restaurant, Relying on Fried Rice to Chicken Satay
ALGER - The Indonesian Embassy in Algeria expanded the promotion of Indonesian cuisine by presenting 'Indonesia Corner' at the Jungle Restaurant, Alger. This program is prepared as a long-term step so that Indonesian cuisine can be enjoyed by the Algerian people through local restaurants.
The program entitled Madzak Indunisiya (Indonesian Taste) was held at the Jungle Restaurant's weekly brunch, Friday (24/7). Visitors were served three typical Indonesian menus, namely fried rice, fried noodles, and chicken satay cooked by Wisma Indonesia chef, Chef Reza.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Algeria, Yusron B. Ambary, said the three menus were chosen because the ingredients were relatively easy to obtain in the local market, thus supporting the sustainability of the program.
"The selection of chicken satay, fried rice, and fried noodles to ensure the sustainability of the program given the availability of the seasoning for these three foods is relatively easy to obtain in the local market in Algeria," Yusron said in a written statement received, Monday (27/7).

The activity was attended by a number of heads of representative offices of friendly countries, including the ambassadors of South Korea, Japan, Canada, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. Indonesian menu also received a positive response from restaurant visitors who enthusiastically tasted the dish.
According to Yusron, culinary is one of the effective instruments of diplomacy to introduce Indonesia to the Algerian people.
"Culinary is a universal language that can bring together various cultures. Through Madzak Indunisiya, we want to bring Indonesia closer to the Algerian people," he said.
The Indonesian Embassy in Algiers plans to make Madzak Indunisiya a flagship program to promote Indonesian cuisine through various activities, including cooperation with local partners.
The idea of presenting the 'Indonesia Corner' also received appreciation from the heads of representatives of friendly countries. According to Yusron, one of the ambassadors even stated that he wanted to adopt a similar concept.
The Indonesian Embassy in Algiers together with Jungle Restaurant will evaluate the implementation of the program to determine its sustainability.
