Logistics Costs Soar, Roxette Cancels 40th Anniversary Tour in North America

JAKARTA - The Swedish duo, Roxette, suddenly canceled all the concert tour series commemorating their 40-year career in the United States and Canada.

The cancellation of the tour at the amphitheater stage, which was originally scheduled to start on September 10, was triggered by a surge in logistics costs and ballooning tour operating costs.

Roxette management confirmed the cancellation through an official statement on social media. They said the decision to cancel or postpone the North American tour was unilaterally taken by the promoter, Live Nation US.

"Due to logistical constraints and sharply rising tour costs, Live Nation US has decided to postpone the North American tour. We hope to see you again on another occasion," said Roxette management, quoting the statement of the upload, Monday, July 27.

Roxette's founder and vocalist, Per Gessle, expressed disappointment over the decision made by the promoter. He emphasized that this cancellation was purely based on Live Nation's business calculations, given that the United States region is actually the largest music streaming market for Roxette.

"Lena, me, and the rest of the band members are certainly very disappointed. We are really looking forward to this North American tour. This decision was made by Live Nation USA, which was most likely based on their own internal calculations. I hope we can soon perform for the amazing fans in the US and Canada in the near future," said Per Gessle.

Based on the original schedule, the Roxette 40th anniversary tour was scheduled to open at the Pine Knob Music Theatre, Clarkston, Michigan on September 10, then continue to the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on October 5, and close at the White River Amphitheatre on October 9.

During the tour, Roxette plans to perform with other 80s singers, namely Taylor Dayne and Nick Lowe.

Although the tour in North America failed to take place, Roxette is confirmed to continue their tour series in the European region, including performances in Germany, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden.
