Srikandi Jakarta Launches Kampung Peduli in Cipete Utara, Encourages Residents to Sort Waste from Home

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Srikandi Movement for Environmental Care and the official launch of the Srikandi Village Care Program began in Cipete Utara Village, South Jakarta.

This program is focused on strengthening the culture of waste sorting from the source through the direct involvement of the community, especially environmental cadres, PKK, to Karang Taruna youth.

This activity is a collaboration between Srikandi Jakarta and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Service (DLH). Hundreds of participants from the Dasawisma cadre, Jumantik cadre, PKK managers, and Karang Taruna Cipete Utara attended the socialization and waste sorting practice.

The launch of Kampung Srikandi Peduli places Cipete Utara as a pilot area for environmental management based on women's empowerment and youth participation.

Through this program, the public is encouraged to get used to sorting garbage from home as an initial step to reduce the amount of garbage that ends up in landfills.

"We really appreciate the activity of the Dasawisma cadres, Jumantik, PKK mothers and the youth of Karang Taruna Cipete Utara. They are the front line who will spread the knowledge of waste sorting to every household. This movement will not run optimally without their support," said a representative of Srikandi Jakarta, Monday, July 27.

During the activity, participants received socialization regarding the techniques for sorting organic, inorganic, and paper waste. Participants were also invited to practice directly sorting waste brought from home, then continued with volunteer work to clean the environment around the RPTRA Sawo Park.

On that occasion, representatives of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Service reminded the sorting of waste from the source to be the most effective step to reduce the volume of waste that is thrown into the Final Disposal Site (TPA), while increasing the potential for recycling.

After the launch of this program, Dasawisma cadres together with Karang Taruna are scheduled to provide assistance to residents on a regular basis. Routine training will also be carried out so that the habit of sorting waste can be applied sustainably at the household level.

"We are committed to continuing to maintain cleanliness and consistently sorting waste. The knowledge we get today we will convey to all residents in their respective neighborhoods," said one of the representatives of the Dasawisma Cipete Utara cadre.
