Warning from BMKG High Waves 2.5 Meters in Sulut Waters until July 30

2.5-meter waves are likely to occur in the waters of North Sulawesi

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that waves of 2.5 meters high are likely to occur in the waters of Sulawesi and its surroundings.

"BMKG has issued a high-wave early warning until July 30, 2026," said the Head of the BMKG Observation and Information Team, Bitung Marine Meteorological Station, Ricky D Aror in Manado, Sunday.

Ricky explained that based on the synoptic conditions, there was a cyclonic circulation in the northern Pacific Ocean of Papua.

Generally, the wind blows from the south to the southwest with a speed of between 6 - 25 knots.

The highest wind speed is likely to occur in the waters of North Sulawesi, the waters of North Minahasa Regency, the waters of the Siau-Tagulandang-Biaro Islands Regency (Sitaro).

The wind speed can cause an increase in wave height around the area.

"We hope that residents will be careful when carrying out activities in water areas with waves that can reach 2.5 meters," he said.

Wave heights between 1.25 - 2.5 meters (moderate) are likely to occur in the waters of North Sulawesi Utara, the waters of South Sulawesi Utara, the waters of North Minahasa Regency, the waters of Sitaro Islands Regency.

Next, the waters of Sangihe Islands Regency, the waters of Talaud Islands Regency, the East Sulawesi Sea and the Central Sulawesi Sea.
