One Person Dies Due to Deadly Clash Between Groups in Menteng

JAKARTA - A man from one of the groups of deadly clashes in the Tambak area, Menteng, Central Jakarta, was finally killed while undergoing treatment at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) Jakarta on Sunday, July 26, 2026, afternoon.

"Two people suffered serious injuries and were evacuated to RSCM. One of them died at the hospital," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jakarta Central Metro Police, AKBP Roby Hery Saputra to VOI.

The victim who died suffered serious injuries to the head, but the victim's identity is not yet known. Currently, the deceased victim is at RSCM.

According to information collected, the clash between the groups occurred between the local residents and the migrant groups.

Initially, the group of migrants came using a noisy exhaust motorcycle and attacked the residents' settlement.

Indra, one of the witnesses said, the group of black-bodied men revved their motorcycles, inviting residents to gather. Residents also reprimanded the group of young people.

"They were geber-geber motor, they kept being scolded, they didn't accept it," he said.

The group of black-bodied men actually attacked local residents. The incident sparked the anger of the residents until there was a widespread clash on Jalan Tambak, Menteng.

"Residents of Matraman Dalam all came out. The clash spread until there was a long commotion on the streets," he said.

As a result of the clash, a house in the Menteng area which was suspected to be a gathering place for a group of black-skinned youths became the target of the mob's fury. The house was on fire. The fire also spread to the motorcycle in the house.

Currently, the situation is conducive. The joint apparatus of the Central Jakarta Metro Police has guarded the location which became the place of commotion between the mass groups.
