Amanda Seyfried Mourns the Loss of Finn, the Dog Who's Been by Her Side for 16 Years
JAKARTA - Amanda Seyfried is grieving after her beloved dog, Finn, died at the age of 16. For the star of The Housemaid, Finn is not just a pet. He has long been part of the family and his journey in Hollywood.
E News quoted Saturday, July 25, reported that Seyfried shared the sad news through an Instagram post on July 24. He uploaded a selfie with Finn and wrote a short sentence that felt very personal.
"This one is for forever," Seyfried wrote.
The 40-year-old actress also shared a number of memories with Finn. In one of the uploads on Instagram Stories, Seyfried was seen walking on the beach, while Finn jumped next to her.
In another photo, the Mean Girls star is lying on her back next to Finn. She raised her arms and legs, mimicking her dog's position.

There is also a photo of Seyfried and Finn hugging with their mouths open. Seyfried wrote that she would still continue to share memories with Finn.
"I will continue to share it," Seyfried wrote.
The news made a number of celebrities express their support. Olivia Munn wrote a condolence message in the comments section of Seyfried's post.
"Fly high, sweet child," Olivia Munn wrote accompanied by a red heart emoji.
Rachel Brosnahan, star of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, also offered her support to Seyfried.
"Hold tight," Brosnahan wrote. "They are family forever."
Seyfried adopted Finn, an Australian shepherd dog, while working on the set of the HBO series Big Love. Since then, Finn has often come to the work location and has appeared on his social media several times.
In an interview with People in 2019, Seyfried once said Finn's presence changed her life.
"As soon as he was mine, about 24 hours after I got him, I realized there was something in me that needed him," Seyfried said.
"He really changed my life and helped me find my solitude and independence," he said.
In a post in September 2025, Seyfried celebrated Finn's 16th birthday. The Dear John actress posted a photo of Finn wearing a birthday crown.
"My sweet boy has been with me for 16 years and still going strong," Seyfried wrote.
Seyfried said Finn brought love, warmth, and a presence that she was very grateful for.
For Seyfried, Finn is also a homecoming friend in the midst of the harsh rhythm of Hollywood. He once said that his youth would probably be different if he was not accompanied by Finn.
"I don't know what my 20s were like without Finn. I really don't," Seyfried told People in 2024.
"I don't know how I would have handled Hollywood. I mean, I've avoided a lot of trouble, I think, because I've got him to come home," he said.
Seyfried is now known as the mother of Nina, 9, and Thomas, 5, from her marriage to Thomas Sadoski. For 16 years, Finn has been a part of Seyfried's life, from the set to her family home.
