World Oil Prices Potentially Soaring Due to Continued War, B50 to Maintain Energy Supply
Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Menko Infra) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) conveyed the discussion of a limited meeting (ratas) with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, July 23.
According to AHY, the government is anticipating the risk of a prolonged war in the Middle East which has the potential to disrupt the world's energy supply and increase oil prices. According to AHY, the development of B50 is included in the plan prepared to strengthen national energy resilience.
According to AHY, this condition requires Indonesia to strengthen energy resilience through energy diversification and the implementation of B50. B50 is diesel fuel with a mixture of 50 percent biodiesel based on vegetable oil.
The government is preparing this program to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. AHY said that anticipating energy turmoil must be carried out without disrupting development in the food sector.
In terms of infrastructure, the government will prepare connectivity support for programs that are national priorities. However, AHY has not detailed the projects or budgets that will be prepared.
