GEMA Bulungan Alliance asks Pertamina and BPH Migas to be transparent about the fuel queue at the Sengkawit gas station

TANJUNG SELOR - The Alliance of Community Movement (GEMA) Bulungan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), urges Pertamina Patra Niaga and the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) to be transparent regarding the cause of the long queue of vehicles at the Sengkawit gas station, Tanjung Selor which is said to occur almost every day.

The demand was conveyed following the proliferation of news in various media as well as the large number of public discussions on social media regarding the repeated vehicle queues at SPBU 6477201.

The Coordinator of the GEMA Bulungan Alliance, Sakti Abimayu said, this condition has created various speculations so that it needs to be answered with data and official explanations from the authorities.

"The public has the right to know the actual cause based on the results of supervision and evaluation conducted by regulators and operators," said Sakti, Friday, July 24.

"This queue that almost every day occurs should not continue to be a polemic. We ask Pertamina and BPH Migas to publicly convey what is actually happening, so that the public is not constantly served with various assumptions that develop in social media and in the community," he continued.

Sakti said that if the queue was caused by high demand, distribution, or other technical factors, it needed to be explained in detail to the public.

On the other hand, if there is found to be any deviation in the process of distributing fuel, then the results of the inspection and the steps taken must also be made public in accordance with applicable regulations.

"Don't let the public just accept one-sided claims. What is needed is data-based explanation. Transparency will eliminate public doubts and become a form of accountability to the public," he said.

Sakti, who is also the secretary of the Kaltara KNPI, asked BPH Migas to conduct an audit and evaluation of the distribution system and the distribution of fuel at the Sengkawit gas station.

His party also emphasized that this demand for transparency was not to judge certain parties, but rather that the polemics that developed through news and social media could be answered with facts, data and the results of official examinations from Pertamina Patra Niaga and BPH Migas.

"The results of the supervision are expected to be published so that the public knows the actual condition. Don't let many traders buy, then industrial vehicles buy subsidized fuel," he said.

Previously, the management of the Sengkawit gas station stated that the long queue was not caused by a shortage of fuel stock, but by an increase in the number of vehicles that refuel, including vehicles from outside the Bulungan Regency and outside Kaltara.

Until this news was released, Pertamina Patra Niaga and BPH MIgas have not given an official response. (*)
