Survey on the Introduction of Low SPMB, West Java DPRD Urges the Provincial Government to Implement the Four Pillars of the Information System

BANDUNG - The Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of West Java urges the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Java to immediately implement the four pillars of a comprehensive education information system. This decisive step responds to the low public awareness of education programs based on the results of research by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI).

Deputy Chairman of the West Java DPRD Iwan Suryawan revealed that the results of the LSI research recorded the level of awareness (awareness) of West Java residents of strategic education programs still stuck in the range of 31 to 42 percent. The figure includes the New Student Admission System (SPMB) of 42.9 percent, Private Cooperative Schools (SSK) 34.9 percent, and Maung Schools at 31.7 percent.

This condition is considered to be in contrast, considering the public's satisfaction level with the leadership of Governor Dedi Mulyadi and Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan actually penetrated the 95.4 percent figure.

"Currently, the information is not well managed when the official announcement is issued, and the channels are divided in social media officials or school websites," said Iwan in Bandung, Friday (24/7/2026).

The politician from the PKS Faction assessed that the obstruction of public communication occurred because the technical service was too dependent on social media. As a result, the information that reaches the public is fragmentary, not in-depth, and prone to being misinterpreted through various narratives of social media accounts that are confusing.

As a solution, the West Java DPRD encourages the implementation of four pillars of information systems, namely simultaneous education by schools to parents and students, measurable social media governance, official publication on a scheduled basis in mainstream mass media, and installation of official information monitors throughout the school environment.

Through the fourth pillar, information monitors at each school will broadcast news and official explanations from mainstream media that are partnered with the service. This step is believed to be able to close the gap in information manipulation at the grassroots level while ensuring that parents of students receive valid data references.

"Students and parents can access valid news directly from mainstream media installed on school monitors. With this transparency, the school and the service can no longer manipulate information in the field," he added.

The LSI survey, which is the reference, was carried out on July 2-9, 2026, involving 800 respondents throughout West Java using the multistage random sampling method, and has an error margin of around ±3.5 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.

To conclude his statement, Iwan ensured that the West Java DPRD was ready to accompany the improvement of this public communication system together with the West Java Education Service. His party is committed to supporting regulations and budget allocation so that pro-people programs can be accessed in full, transparent, and fair by all citizens.

"This West Java Provincial Government education program is very good. The task of the technical service is to ensure that the delivery of information is structured. The West Java DPRD is ready to monitor the regulations and its budget so that this integrated communication system can be immediately realized," he concluded.
