Minister of Law and Human Rights Reviews the Increase in the PNBP Naturalization Tariff until the WNI is Released after Many Highlights

JAKARTA - Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas will review the increase in the Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) in the citizenship sector after criticism and input from the public emerged regarding the policy.

Supratman said the evaluation would be carried out through an internal meeting with the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (AHU) and the Directorate General of Intellectual Property.

According to him, the provision regarding the PNBP tariff in the field of citizenship in Government Regulation Number 30 of 2026 is a proposal from the Ministry of Law to the President so that it becomes the responsibility of the ministry if there are things that need to be improved.

However, Supratman emphasized that the proposed tariff increase had gone through a study process before being submitted to the government.

He said the evaluation was carried out in response to various inputs from the public without neglecting the purpose of preparing the policy.

According to him, the tariff determination also takes into account the practices in a number of other countries that charge fees from the stage of applying for citizenship, even though the application is not necessarily approved.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, he said, the new fee is imposed after the application is approved.

Based on PP Number 30 of 2026, the rate for changing citizenship from foreign nationals to Indonesian citizens is set at IDR 75 million, naturalization due to marriage IDR 25 million, and a request for a decision on the loss of citizenship on one's own application IDR 5 million.

The regulation is scheduled to take effect on August 1, 2026.
