Indonesia Continues to Support Capacity Building Programs in the Field of Education to Law Reform for Palestine

JAKARTA - Indonesia reiterated its commitment to continue supporting Palestine through strengthening the capacity of Palestinian human resources and institutions.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Sugiono, at the 5th Ministerial Meeting for the Conference on the Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD V) which was held in Manila, Philippines.

"Creating a free Palestinian state requires the continued support of the entire international community," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, launching the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement, Friday (24/7).

Furthermore, CEAPAD provides a foundation for realizing the solidarity of countries into concrete actions through partnerships to strengthen Palestinian institutions and human resources.

In line with the CEAPAD IV Kuala Lumpur Action Plan agreed in 2025, Indonesia continues to provide support through various capacity-building programs in the fields of education, health, institutional strengthening, legal and security sector reform, and agriculture.

In the field of education, Indonesia this year has again provided scholarships for Palestinian medical students as well as launched a new trilateral cooperation initiative with Australia to encourage dialogue in the fields of education and law enforcement.

Meanwhile, in the agricultural sector, Indonesia will continue its trilateral cooperation on capacity development with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) which focuses on avocado cultivation management in Palestine.

"In the midst of efforts to build Palestinian capacity and institutions, the international community's attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza must not recede. Indonesia will continue to contribute to the fulfillment of urgent humanitarian needs through various international organizations," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.

As part of this commitment, Indonesia this year will channel humanitarian assistance to the people in Gaza worth 2 million US dollars through a partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Closing his statement, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized the importance of CEAPAD to strengthen synergy with various regional and international partners, to ensure that each initiative complements each other, is more effective, and produces sustainable benefits for the Palestinian people.
