Shania Twain Was Worried Her New Album Would Be Irrelevant to Listeners

JAKARTA - Canadian country-pop star Shania Twain officially launched her seventh studio album titled Little Miss Twain today, Friday, July 24.

Through her latest work, Twain invites listeners to reflect on her life in her youth long before she achieved global popularity, including memories of growing up in a gold-mining town in a remote part of Canada.

By presenting very personal material, Twain admitted that he was hesitant and worried that his fans would not be able to feel connected to his past story.

The background of his childhood home is considered to have a culture that is rarely known by the general public.

"I guess I haven't met anyone since leaving home who is from a gold mining town. We only have gold, forests, big deer, otters, and lots of lakes," Twain said in a recent interview with Billboard.

"We have beauty and culture, but it's a culture that not a lot of people really know about," he continued.

The doubts made the 60-year-old singer hold back the release of his songs for years. He considers these works to be nothing more than personal reflection spaces and the distribution of a hobby of writing songs without any intention of releasing them commercially in the form of a studio album.

However, he believes that a rich musical arrangement will be able to bridge the message of the song to its listeners.

This album combines various musical nuances that color his youth, ranging from 1960s soul music, southwest nuances, baritone guitar touches, to the experimental style of bluegrass and Motown music.

"Musically, this album is very easy to connect with many people's love for the combination of various genres. I think even if you don't really understand some of the things I'm saying, you'll still connect with the music," he said.

For information, the album title *Little Miss Twain* itself is taken from Shania's stage name when she was still a young singer who performed cover songs in various remote areas of Canada.

The singer who lost both parents in a car accident at the age of 22 hopes that the song collection in his latest album can present an emotional side that has never been revealed before to fans around the world.
