After Meeting Trump in Washington, Iraqi PM Visits Tehran

JAKARTA - Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi was greeted by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the Sa'dabad Palace during his visit to Tehran.

Kunjungan ini menyusul lawatan al-Zaidi ke Washington pekan lalu, di mana ia bertemu dengan Presiden AS Donald Trump.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said al-Zaidi would likely convey Trump's message and views, but stressed that Tehran was not seeking further mediation with the US.

"Currently, Iran does not lack mediators or means to exchange messages with the United States," Araghchi told state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

"The main obstacle is the US approach which is 'irrational, excessive, and hegemonic'," he said.
