One Oil Tanker Exploded by a Mine in the Strait of Hormuz

JAKARTA - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that an oil tanker exploded after being hit by a mine in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC said that 3 oil tankers tried to cross the shipping lane

"Three US-backed oil tankers tried to cross a mine-laid route south of the Strait of Hormuz. After one of the tankers exploded and caught fire, the other two ships immediately turned around and retreated," the IRGC said, as quoted by Press TV.

The IRGC said no oil tankers were allowed to enter or leave.

"Every ship, which is trapped in the American trick and tries to pass without coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, will meet the same fate," the IRGC said, as quoted by Sputnik.

Previously, on Wednesday (22/7), IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbimengatakan the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz has been mined.

"The southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, which has been mined, will destroy your investment. Don't be fooled by the United States," Mohebbi said.

US President Donald Trump has threatened to destroy a bridge or power plant in Iran, including in Tehran, whenever Iran launches an attack on ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
