Today, the Constitutional Court Dismissed 20 Material Test Cases, Including the 2026 State Budget regarding MBG and the Criminal Procedure Code
JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) is scheduled to read the verdict or decision on 20 applications for a test of the law on Thursday, July 23. One of the matters of concern is a lawsuit against the 2026 State Budget Law which questions the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
Based on the schedule posted on the Constitutional Court's official website, quoted by Antara, the hearing to pronounce the verdict will be held in the Plenary Session Room of Building I of the Constitutional Court, Jakarta, starting at 13.30 WIB.
Previously, the Constitutional Court will hold a preliminary examination hearing for three applications to test the law in parallel starting at 11.00 WIB.
One of the cases decided today is Petition Number 209/PUU-XXIV/2026 filed by three students from Surabaya. They tested Article 22 paragraph (3) of Law Number 17 of 2025 concerning the 2026 State Budget which relates to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
In addition to the 2026 state budget lawsuit, the Constitutional Court will also read the verdict on a number of requests for a material test against Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code, including a request that tests the provisions regarding the plea bargain mechanism.
Other matters decided include testing the Election Law, Criminal Code, Copyright, Prosecutor's Office, National Education System, Health, Employment, Consumer Protection, Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, to the Law on the Determination of the State of Danger.
Before the verdict hearing, the Constitutional Court first examined three new applications, namely the testing of the Election Law submitted by Fikri Haikal Harapan, the testing of the Mineral and Coal Mining Law by Muh. Arfan Jaya, and the testing of the Law on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector which was requested by Mustadinata Moestafa.
In total, there are 20 material test cases scheduled to be decided today, including testing of the 2026 State Budget Law, the Criminal Code, the Regional Election, Copyright, Political Parties, the Constitutional Court, Employment, Prosecutor's Office, Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Health, Criminal Procedure Code, Consumer Protection, Job Creation, Agrarian System, National Education System, Determination of Dangerous Conditions, to the Election Law.
