Groundbreaking MASTRAN BRT Bandung Basin, Brantas Abipraya Strengthen Integrated Public Transportation Infrastructure
JAKARTA - PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) through the Operation Cooperation (KSO) PT Abipraya-SBS officially started the construction of the Indonesia Mass Transit (MASTRAN) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Bandung Basin which was marked by the groundbreaking at the BRT Depot Leuwipanjang, Bandung City, Wednesday, July 22. This groundbreaking is the initial milestone of the construction of an integrated modern public transportation system to improve the connectivity and mobility of the community in the Greater Bandung area.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Transportation, Dedi Mulyadi, Governor of West Java, regional heads in the Bandung Basin area, international development partners, including the World Bank and Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and President Director of PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), Agung Fajarwanto, along with other stakeholders.
As one of the Government's Strategic Projects in the transportation sector, the Bandung Basin BRT Master Plan is designed to provide modern, safe, comfortable, integrated, and environmentally friendly mass transportation services. The presence of this BRT system is expected to be a solution to congestion, increase the efficiency of community mobility, and support the reduction of carbon emissions in the Bandung metropolitan area.
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi emphasized that the construction of the Bandung Basin MASTRAN BRT is a strategic step in realizing an integrated, safe, comfortable, and sustainable public transportation system. According to him, this project is part of the government's efforts to improve metropolitan area connectivity while reducing congestion and carbon emissions.
Brantas Abipraya was entrusted as the implementing contractor through the KSO PT Abipraya-SBS to build various supporting infrastructure for the BRT system. This assignment is a form of trust from the Government in Brantas Abipraya's experience and capabilities in building quality and sustainable national strategic infrastructure.
Brantas Abipraya Corporate Secretary, Dian Sovana, said that the MASTRAN BRT Bandung Basin project is part of the company's commitment to supporting the transformation of the national transportation system through the provision of quality and sustainable infrastructure.
"Brantas Abipraya is committed to presenting superior construction works by prioritizing accuracy of quality, timeliness, and safety, innovation, and sustainability. We hope that the construction of the Bandung Basin MASTRAN BRT can be a catalyst in improving the quality of public transportation services, reducing congestion, reducing carbon emissions, as well as encouraging economic growth and improving the quality of life of people in the Greater Bandung area," said Dian.
In its implementation, Brantas Abipraya will apply the best construction standards by prioritizing the principles of Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (QHSSE), the utilization of construction technology innovations, and the application of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles to ensure that construction is carried out safely, quality, efficient, and sustainable.
"We are committed to carrying out work while paying attention to the safety, quality, and comfort of the community. Through open and collaborative communication, we hope that this development can run smoothly and provide optimal benefits for the people of Greater Bandung," he added.
The construction of the Bandung Basin MASTRAN BRT includes the construction of a BRT corridor along with various supporting infrastructure, such as stops, depots, road pavement, pedestrian facilities, and other supporting facilities designed to improve the comfort and safety of public transportation users.
In addition to the groundbreaking, this activity was also coupled with the signing of a Regional Synergy Agreement (KSDD) between the West Java Provincial Government together with five district/city governments in the Bandung Basin area which was witnessed directly by the Minister of Transportation. The signing was an important milestone in strengthening cross-regional government collaboration to realize an integrated mass transportation system in the Bandung metropolitan area.
Through the synergy between the Central Government, Regional Government, international development partners, and Brantas Abipraya, the Bandung Basin MASTRAN BRT project is expected to become a model for the development of modern public transportation in Indonesia. The presence of this mass transportation system will not only increase inter-regional connectivity, but also support more efficient community mobility, strengthen the competitiveness of the Greater Bandung area as a center of national economic growth, and encourage the realization of greener and more sustainable urban development.
