Budget has not been determined, URI Governor ensures that all of them are from the State Budget

JAKARTA - The government has not determined the budget needs of the University of the Republic of Indonesia or URI, even though the education program for prospective government and SOEs leaders has begun.

URI Governor Marshal TNI (Ret.) Donny Ermawan Taufanto said the budget for the new institution is still being prepared and detailed. The funding will be entirely sourced from the State Budget or APBN.

"Not yet, we are arranging it, we are detailing it," said Donny after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto as URI Governor at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 22.

"Oh yes, it is clear from the state budget," he continued when asked about the source of funding for URI.

According to Donny, the budget for the construction of four Garuda Flagship Schools is available at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The government is now preparing the URI budget needs for the end of this year and next year.

Prabowo plans to build 10 URI. The university is prepared to produce future leaders in government and state-owned enterprises.

Although the budget has not been completed, the first URI program has been running since May 20. A total of 399 new state-owned enterprise employees have participated in the President's Program for Future Leaders or P3MD.

They receive leadership training, managerial skills, national insight, integrity, and patriotism.

URI will also hold degree education. The initial phase is focused on undergraduate programs, while the master's program is planned to follow.

Donny said all URI students would receive scholarships. However, the number of faculties and study programs is still being arranged.

The URI campus is planned to be built in Cikasungka, North Bogor, on the land of an oil palm plantation owned by PTPN which is no longer productive. For the time being, URI management will use two floors in a state-owned company office on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta.
