IPR: IIFC Law Strengthens Indonesia's Economic Foundation
JAKARTA - Executive Director of Political Review (IPR), Iwan Setiawan, considers the enactment of the Indonesian International Financial Center (IIFC / PFII) Law to be a strategic step demonstrating the commitment of the government and the DPR RI to building a stronger national economic foundation.
According to Iwan, the IIFC Law needs to be viewed as part of the country's strategic policy to adapt to global economic shifts while reinforcing Indonesia's position in attracting international trust.
"The IIFC Law demonstrates the serious commitment of both the government and the DPR to providing regulations that support the strengthening of the national financial ecosystem. This is not just about building an institution or a zone, but about how the state prepares policy instruments to navigate future economic challenges," Iwan stated.
He mentioned that in the context of national development, regulatory certainty is a crucial factor in fostering trust among various stakeholders toward government policies.
In his view, the existence of a legal framework for the IIFC provides a clearer direction for developing Indonesia's international financial center while continuing to safeguard national interests.
"Every strategic policy naturally requires a strong legal foundation. With the IIFC Law in place, the government has a platform to develop a financial ecosystem that is more targeted, transparent, and guided by high standards of governance," he said.
Iwan believes that collaboration among the government, DPR, regulators, and stakeholders will be key to ensuring the implementation of the IIFC Law aligns with its objectives.
According to him, the next challenge lies not merely in enacting regulations, but in how those policies are consistently translated into practice.
"The success of a public policy is measured not only by the process of enacting the law, but also by how its implementation delivers tangible benefits to society and supports the national development agenda," Iwan added.
Furthermore, Iwan hopes that the IIFC can serve as an instrument to reinforce confidence in Indonesia's economic policies while supporting government efforts to enhance national competitiveness.
"The enactment of the IIFC Law is a crucial milestone. What is needed next is consistency in implementation so that the goal of strengthening Indonesia's position in the global economy can be achieved," Iwan concluded.
