BI Records Bank Nganggur Credit Reaches Rp2.490 Trillion

Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded the value of undisbursed loans or credit facilities that have not been utilized reached Rp. 2,490 trillion as of June 2026 or equivalent to 21.52 percent of the total credit ceiling available in the banking sector.

Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo said the amount of outstanding loans showed that there was still a considerable room to encourage financing for the real sector and accelerate economic growth.

"The large amount of loan facilities that have not been used or often referred to as undisbursed loans which reached Rp. 2,490 trillion or 21.52 percent of the available credit ceiling, so it needs to continue to be encouraged to be realized to support economic financing," he said in a press conference, Wednesday, July 22.

In terms of demand, Perry assessed that banking liquidity is still adequate to support credit distribution, which is reflected in the growth of third-party funds (DPK) which reached 10.21 percent on an annual basis in June 2026.

He also hopes that the development of bank interest rates, can encourage credit growth, including supported by the publication of the assessment of the transparency of the Basic Credit Interest Rate (SBDK).

Until June 2026, the one-month deposit interest rate was recorded at 4.76 percent, while the average credit interest rate was at the level of 8.81 percent.

Perry added that bank credit growth continued to show improvement, namely in June 2026, credit grew 12.67 percent year-on-year, higher than the 11.51 percent growth in May 2026.

"The growth of banking credit in June 2026 was recorded at 12.67 percent, an increase from the growth of May 2026 of 11.51 percent," he explained.

He explained that based on the type of use, credit growth was driven by the distribution of investment credit, working capital credit, and consumption credit.

"Based on this group of uses, this development is supported by investment credit, working capital credit, and consumption credit, which in June 2026 grew by 24.9 percent, 8.94 percent, and 5.75 percent, respectively," he said.

Seeing this development, Perry said Bank Indonesia still maintains its credit growth projection for 2026 in the range of 8 to 12 percent.
