Sony's Lawyer Urges Attorney General to Immediately Check Nanik S Deyang

JAKARTA - Nanik Sudaryati Deyang's resignation from the position of Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) does not eliminate the need for legal proceedings if there is indeed an alleged involvement in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) corruption case.

This was conveyed by Krisna Murti, the lawyer for Sony Sonjaya, a former deputy of the BGN. He assessed that Nanik's position, which was said to be in the vortex of the BGN corruption allegations, must still be followed up through the investigation process so that all facts can be revealed clearly.

"Indeed, according to me, it should have (resigned). To be sure, according to my client, Bu Nanik's involvement is in the vortex and must still be held accountable by law," Krisna said when contacted by the media, Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Krisna said that from the beginning his party had asked the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) RI to summon Nanik for questioning. He considered that this step was important to clarify the case after his client submitted a number of names allegedly related to the case.

"What we have asked from the beginning is that NSD (Nanik) be immediately summoned by the Prosecutor's Office. The name of NSD has been revealed by our client along with dozens of other names. It should have been the one who was summoned first so that this case would be clear," he said.

Regarding the health reasons that Nanik submitted as the basis for his resignation and plans to undergo treatment abroad, Krisna said he did not want to speculate. He chose to respect Nanik's health condition, but still hopes that the legal process will run according to procedure.

"I can't argue further because I'm not Bu Nanik's lawyer. Humanely, of course, we hope that he will recover quickly and that the treatment is successful. As for why he went abroad for treatment, I can't comment," he said.

However, Krisna assessed that the Prosecutor's Office could still call Nanik. The reason is, if the person concerned admits that he has not been able to meet the call for health reasons, he said that the condition could be verified by the doctor owned by the Prosecutor's Office.

"The important thing is to call the NSD first. If later through his lawyer he says he can't attend because he is sick, please have the prosecutor's doctor check if he can still undergo an examination or not. This is to help uncover the case to be clear," he added.

In addition, Krisna also highlighted Nanik's statement that he claimed to have communicated with President Prabowo Subianto and had the opportunity to fill the position of Chairman of the BGN Supervisory Board after stepping down from the head of the body. According to him, the plan should be postponed until the examination process is completed.

"It should be prioritized for examination first, if the results are clean, of course we respect it. But don't let it be appointed as a supervisor, then the case rolls and it turns out that there is a suspicion of involvement," he said.

Furthermore, Krisna stated that his party did not question the addition of new names in the investigation of the alleged corruption case of MBG. He considered that the more important thing was to call the names that had been mentioned in the investigation process first.

"For me, the most important thing is not the addition of names. The names that were there before were called. From there, it will develop who has involvement. That's what has to be prioritized," he concluded.
