Indian Tourist Dies While Traveling in Lombok, Here's the Reason

MATARAM - The Mataram City Police ensured that the Indian tourist, Vijaya Vishnu Hande (65), died of a heart attack while traveling on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mataram Police, AKP I Made Dharma Yulia Putra, said the cause of death of the victim was known based on the results of a medical examination at the hospital.

"The check-up was carried out at the Mataram City Hospital last night," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 22.

Made explained that the check was carried out by supervisory officers together with the Mataram Police's picket personnel to ensure the victim's identity and collect initial information related to the incident.

According to him, the victim's body is still interred at the Mataram City Hospital. The police are coordinating with the hospital, related agencies, and representatives of the victim's country of origin so that the administrative process and handling of the body are carried out according to procedures.

"We continue to coordinate with relevant parties, including representatives of the victim countries, so that all administrative processes and handling of the bodies can run well," he said.

Made said the victim arrived in Bali on July 13, 2026 to vacation in the Nusa Penida area, then continued on a tour to Lombok Island.

While in a tourist area in West Lombok Regency, the victim was reported to have suddenly experienced an emergency condition until he was unconscious.

The victim was then evacuated to the Meninting Health Center to receive first aid before being referred to the Siloam Mataram Hospital.

"Based on the initial examination by dr. Galan Armadani at Siloam Hospital, the victim was declared dead on Tuesday afternoon at around 17.50 Wita," said Made.

After being declared dead, the victim's body was evacuated to the Mataram City Hospital for further treatment.
