Sudaryono Becomes Head of BGN Definitif, After Leaving the Position of Deputy Minister of Agriculture
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto appointed Sudaryono as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency or BGN to replace Nanik Sudaryati Deyang who resigned for health reasons.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said Sudaryono would serve definitively and not double as Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
"The President decided that the replacement for the Head of BGN was Mr. Sudaryono, who is currently serving as Deputy Minister of Agriculture," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 22.
The inauguration of Sudaryono is planned to take place on Wednesday afternoon at around 15.00 WIB. The government has not decided on Sudaryono's replacement at the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to Prasetyo, Sudaryono's election is inseparable from his involvement from the beginning in the preparation of the concept of the Free Nutritious Meal Program. He also participated in discussing the technical implementation of the program.
In addition, the task of BGN is directly related to the Ministry of Agriculture which supplies food for the Free Nutritious Meal Program.
"Until now, the National Nutrition Agency has never been separated from his duties at the Ministry of Agriculture because the source of raw materials and food materials is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture," he said.
Nanik submitted a resignation letter to the President because he wanted to focus on undergoing health care. Prabowo accepted the request so that the change of leadership of the BGN could be carried out immediately.
Prasetyo said that the work of BGN could not be delayed. The vacancy of the leadership was considered to be able to disrupt programs that serve beneficiaries in various regions.
Although he resigned from the position of head, Nanik was still asked to help BGN through the supervisory board. He previously served as Deputy Head of BGN before being appointed as head of the institution on June 8, 2026.
Prabowo assessed that Nanik's experience was still needed to accompany the new leadership in improving the implementation and governance of BGN.
