Prabowo Reshuffles BGN, Finance Officials to the Prosecutor's Office to Strengthen Governance
JAKARTA - The government is carrying out a thorough overhaul at the National Nutrition Agency by including experienced officials in the fields of finance, supervision, health, and law enforcement.
The Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the reshuffle was carried out at the order of President Prabowo Subianto after problems arose in the BGN environment a few days earlier.
"The President asked us all to make thorough improvements to the National Nutrition Agency," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 22.
A number of officials at BGN have been replaced. The strengthening was carried out by placing people who have experience in the Ministry of Finance, the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency, the Ministry of Health, and the Prosecutor's Office.
According to Prasetyo, the arrangement was chosen to improve the implementation of the BGN program and governance. The institution is the main executor of the Free Nutritious Meal Program.
The re-improvement faced changes after the head of BGN Nanik Sudaryati Deyang resigned for health reasons.
The President then appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono as the definitive Head of BGN. He was chosen because he was involved from the beginning in the drafting of the concept and technical Free Nutritious Meal Program.
Sudaryono is also considered to understand the relationship between BGN and the agricultural sector. Food for the program has been supported by a production ecosystem under the Ministry of Agriculture.
Nanik is still asked to help through the BGN supervisory board. Prabowo assessed that his experience as deputy head and head of BGN could still be used to oversee the improvement of the institution.
Prasetyo said the leadership change was carried out as soon as possible so that BGN's work would not stop. Sudaryono is scheduled to be inaugurated on Wednesday afternoon.
"The National Nutrition Agency is an institution whose type of work cannot be delayed," he said.
