New Face of PSIM Yogyakarta Management for Better Ranking in the Super League

YOGYAKARTA - PSIM Yogyakarta appears with a new face in management when welcoming the 2026/2027 Indonesian Super League. The new look in the management ranks by recruiting Ikhsan Mahar who previously struggled in the world of journalism by becoming a journalist for a leading national media.

Laskar Mataram officially introduced three new figures who will strengthen the team's operations, ranging from football technical affairs to match administration and licensing. The introduction of the three new managers was carried out at the PSIM House, Yogyakarta, Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

In addition to Ikhsan Mahar who is the team manager, there is Tegar Diokta Andias as the operational manager, and Wendy Umar Senoaji who is now occupying the position as the operational manager in Yogyakarta.

PSIM Yogyakarta President Director, Yuliana Tasno, said Ikhsan's appointment was based on his track record and love for football. Ikhsan is a former Kompas journalist who served in the sports desk for 12 years.

"The position of football manager (team manager) is now held by Ikhsan Mahar. He is one of the senior sports journalists of Kompas. I see the first is his passion. I understand very well and am also impressed with his knowledge. Want to talk about the national team from any era he understands. His passion for football is extraordinary," said Yuliana.

According to him, Ikhsan's knowledge is not only limited to following the development of football, but also has the ability to analyze players and team needs.

"If you can see scouting, then assess whether this player is suitable for the team's needs, that's already an expert level. The basis is indeed passion first, then his knowledge is extensive in football," he said.

Yuliana also hopes that Ikhsan's presence can strengthen the relationship between PSIM and the media so that the flow of information about the club becomes more open.

"We are very aware that the media needs information, and PSIM coverage is indeed liked by the public. We hope that in the future we can be more transparent so that media friends can more easily get information," he said.

In addition to strengthening the team management sector, PSIM also appointed Tegar as the Operational Manager. Tegar previously had a long experience accompanying the Indonesian national team coaching team, in the era of Shin Tae-yong and Patrick Kluivert.

"Mas Tegar strengthens the non-technical side of the first team and EPA. Starting from administration, arranging team travel when away, accommodation, to player needs. Technical things like this make players more comfortable so that their performance can also be better," said Yuliana.

Meanwhile, Wendy Umar Senoaji, former chairman of Panpel PSIM, is now trusted to handle the team's operations in Yogyakarta, including licensing matters for matches, which have been one of the most complex jobs.

Yuliana assessed that the task was not easy because it involved coordination with many parties, ranging from the police to related agencies.

"Not everyone can handle permits like that. The chairman of the panpel is not an easy job. They struggle from morning to dawn to give the best for PSIM. If there is no permit, it does not mean that the panpel is not working," he said.

The changes in the managerial ranks are expected to bring PSIM to better achievements this season. In the previous season when promoted from League 2, PSIM was able to meet the target of staying in the highest class.

"We hope that the future of PSIM can be better than before. From good then better and finally the best," he said.

He also invited supporters to provide support to all elements who work behind the scenes and are not easily prejudiced when obstacles arise in the organization of matches.

"Please don't be suspicious of each other. If you really love PSIM, let's take care of it together. The value of PSIM is integrity and goodness. And PSIM is built on these values," he said again.
