Apple is considering a 7-inch screen for the iPhone 20 series to become the largest iPhone.

JAKARTA - Apple is reportedly considering using a 7-inch screen for one of the variants of the 20th anniversary edition smartphone, which is predicted to be the iPhone 20 Pro Max. If this plan is realized, the size will be the largest screen dimension ever made by Apple for an iPhone product.

News about this screen test was first revealed by technology leaker Digital Chat Station via Chinese social media, Weibo. Although marketed as 7 inches, the actual physical size of the screen panel being tested is reported to be 6.96 inches.

This new size has a slight increase compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max which has a screen measuring 6.86 inches. Given that the screen measurement is done diagonally, the difference will make the screen area of the iPhone 20 Pro Max about 2 percent larger than the current model, which is quite noticeable when held. However, so far there is no indication whether the pixel density level on this new screen will remain the same or change.

This jumbo screen testing step follows a number of other rumors related to the 2027 iPhone line. Previously, there were rumors that Apple had started production evaluations for the 2027 edition of the iPhone, which carried a curved screen design on all four sides, as well as rumors about a significant design overhaul on the 20 iPhone lineup.

The last time Apple increased the screen size on its smartphone line was in 2024 through the launch of the iPhone 16 series. At that time, the iPhone 16 Pro Max increased the screen size from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro variant increased from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches.

Digital Chat Station said that Apple has not yet made a final decision regarding the certainty of using the larger screen size. This leaker is known to have a fairly accurate track record regarding Apple product leaks, and recently also shared rumors regarding the screen size of the iPhone Fold 2 device.
