TNI Supports the Production of 19.2 Million Tons of Rice in Semester I-2026

JAKARTA - The TNI Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, reported that the assistance of the Army to the agricultural sector has contributed to achieving the national rice production target for 2026.

In his report to President Prabowo Subianto during the integrated harvest of sugar cane, rice, and soybeans, at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base, Malang, East Java.

"From January to June 2026, the total harvested area reached 6.26 million hectares with a production of 19.2 million tons of rice, or has supported 55.24 percent of the national rice production target in 2026," he said.

Meanwhile, for the harvest in July 2026, the TNI AD assisted in the rice harvest on an area of 479,659 hectares.

According to him, the efforts made by the TNI are to strengthen food independence and reduce import dependence.

He explained that the synergy of the TNI with the government, SOEs, the business world, academics, and the community is an important factor in supporting efforts to realize national food self-sufficiency.

"This harvest is a tangible proof that the TNI is present to strengthen food independence and advance the nation's economy as the foundation for the Golden Indonesia 2045," he said.

The success achieved by the TNI in maintaining national food security has received appreciation from President Prabowo. For this reason, Prabowo asked for the involvement of the TNI and Polri in the midst of farmers and fishermen for Indonesia's food security not to be questioned.

"It's not necessary to do too much, what is this procedure, why are soldiers involved in the rice fields, why are the police involved in the corn," said Prabowo.

According to Prabowo, the conditions in Indonesia cannot be compared to other countries. Prabowo also reminded that the TNI and Polri have the task of solving the problems experienced by the people.

"This is Indonesia. TNI, Polri belongs to the people. We have to overcome the difficulties of the people. TNI, Polri must overcome the difficulties of the people. If in other countries it is your business," he said.

Prabowo was proud of the performance of the TNI and Polri in helping to overcome the difficulties of the community. "We overcome. We overcome the difficulties of the people," he said.

The Head of State said this shows that the TNI and Polri are not only the guardians of the country's defense and security, but an inseparable part of the Indonesian people.

"The TNI and the Police are the children of the people. The TNI and the Police must always be with the people, in the midst of the people.
