West Lombok Regent Allegedly Received Sacrificial Cows, Toyota Alphard to iPhone 17 Pro as Bribes

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that the alleged receipt of bribes by West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ) was not only in the form of cash but also various luxury goods and facilities. Among them is a Toyota Alphard unit, iPhone 17 Pro, Hermes shoes to a sacrificial cow.

Acting Director of KPK Investigation Ahmad Taufik Husein said that all of these gifts were allegedly from the President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument (MSI), Alvonsus Gani through the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (AMGM) West Lombok, Sudirman.

"In the period 2024-2026, PT MSI through SUD (President Director of PT AMGM Sudirman) at the order of LAZ received a number of projects related to clean water governance in West Lombok Regency worth Rp. 27.1 billion," said Taufik in a press conference at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, July 21.

The KPK detailed the goods and facilities allegedly received by Lalu Ahmad Zaini, namely one unit of Toyota Alphard car worth Rp1.2 billion, one pair of Hermes shoes worth Rp19 million, one unit of iPhone 17 Pro worth Rp26 million, a sacrificial cow worth Rp17 million, and facilities for round-trip travel Lombok-Jakarta on several occasions.

According to the KPK, the donation was allegedly related to a procurement project carried out by PT MSI in the environment of the West Lombok Regency Government.

In this case, the KPK named three people as suspects, namely Lalu Ahmad Zaini and Sudirman as the recipients, and Alvonsus Gani as the giver.

Then Ahmad Zaini and Sudirman were suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or letter b and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c in conjunction with Article 21 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, Alvonsus Gani as a bribe giver is suspected of violating Article 605 or Article 606 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustment.

The three have been detained for the first 20 days, from July 21 to August 9, 2026 at the KPK Red and White Building Branch State Detention House (Rutan).
