US-Iran Missile Attacks, Tanker Hit by Impact on Oman Coast

JAKARTA - The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that a tanker was hit by a missile off the coast of Oman on Tuesday, July 22 local time.

The missile damaged part of the tanker as the Iranian and US militaries exchanged fire over control of the Strait of Hormuz.

"UKMTO has received a report of an incident 13 nautical miles southeast of Limah, Oman. A tanker was reported to have been hit by a missile while passing out through the southern route. Authorities are investigating," said a UKMTO statement, Tuesday, July 21, quoted by AFP.

According to the state news agency IRNA, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard said on Tuesday that they stopped two oil tankers that wanted to break through across the Strait of Hormuz.

"Two non-compliant oil tankers trying to pass through the southern route of the unsafe Strait of Hormuz were stopped after an explosion caused a major fire inside them," the Revolutionary Guards said in a statement quoted by IRNA.
