MBG Budget Can Be Reduced After Data Is Validated, the Palace Ensures that the Fiscal Remains Safe
JAKARTA - The government is open to reducing the budget needs of the Free Nutritious Meal or MBG program after improvements in management and data validation at the National Nutrition Agency.
The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said that the possibility had also previously been conveyed by the Minister of Finance.
"There is a possibility that after the repair process in the management or in the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency and after the data validation process, there will be a decrease in the MBG budget needs," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 21.
He did not mention the amount of the budget that could potentially be reduced or the time to complete data validation.
Prasetyo also responded to the possibility of reducing the defense budget. According to the Minister of Defense, this step is only a possibility and only carried out when the situation requires it.

The results of the government's evaluation to date show that the economic and fiscal conditions are still maintained.
"Our economic fundamentals are quite strong. Our fiscal is also still very well maintained," he said.
Prasetyo said the current year's budget deficit was also still under control.
However, the government continues to review the budget which is considered unproductive and does not have a big impact.
The efficiency measures were carried out in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's instructions.
"The budgets that are considered less productive, less impactful, we continue to strive to be efficient," said Prasetyo.
