Sightings Of The Burning Pertamina Cilacap Refinery Fire
JAKARTA - One tank of the Cilacap oil refinery, Central Java, caught fire. Firefighters are still trying to extinguish the fire completely, including through the cooling process.
The tank fire in the Cilacap refinery area, Central Java, occurred at 19.45 WIB. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
"Efforts to extinguish the fire are carried out by spraying foam towards the hotspots. A total of 50 firefighters have been dispatched to deal with the fires," said PT KPI's Corporate Secretary, Ifki Sukarya in a written statement to reporters, Friday, June 11.
Meanwhile Unit Manager Communication Relations Cilacap Refinery Unit IV Cilacap, Hatim Ilwan said officers were still in control of the total extinguishing effort. The Pertamina Cilacap refinery tank fire had no impact on residents.
"This location is inside, far from the highway, far from settlements, so it can be ascertained that the impact is quite far from the community," he said, quoted from Kompas TV broadcast.
The Cilacap refinery is one of Pertamina's 6 refineries with a processing capacity of 270 thousand barrels per day. This refinery has about 200 tanks to accommodate crude to be processed, gas and fuel from crude oil processing.
Despite the fire, Pertamina ensures that the supply of fuel and LPG for the community remains safe.
