The Ministry of PU Allocates Rp37.12 Billion for the Lake Dendam Tak Sudah Area Management

JAKARTA - Lake Dendam Tak Sudah in Bengkulu City will soon offer a different tourist experience.

Not only presenting natural scenery, this area will also "tell" every visitor through the stories of legends, history, to the cultural values that have been attached for years.

The concept is realized through the arrangement of the Dendam Tak Sudah Lake Tourism Area which is now being worked on by the Ministry of Public Works (PU).

One of the facilities that has been prepared is the storytelling signage, which is an information medium that tells the origin of Lake Dendam Tak Sudah and the historical, cultural values and the importance of maintaining the sustainability of the area.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that infrastructure development not only focuses on connectivity, but is also directed at strengthening productive sectors, including tourism which is able to create jobs and improve people's welfare.

"The PU Ministry is committed to continuing to oversee the implementation of infrastructure optimally by always ensuring its quality, sustainability, and impact on the welfare of the community, especially as support for the tourism area," said Dody as quoted from a written statement, Tuesday, July 21.

Lake Dendam Tak Sudah is one of the iconic tourist destinations in Bengkulu which holds a legend of the local community about an unfinished love story.

The folk tale is part of the cultural identity of Bengkulu and will be introduced to tourists through a storytelling-based tourism concept.

Not only presenting a more educational experience, the arrangement of the area is also designed to stimulate the economy of the surrounding community.

In an area of about 4 hectares, the PU Ministry has built various supporting facilities, ranging from the Taste Arena as a culinary center, the Small Stage, the Meeting Hall, the amphitheater and the Gedang Stage, the ticketing building, landscaping, roads, drainage to the viewpoint (sunrise view).

The existence of the Taste Arena is expected to be a space for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to market typical Bengkulu cuisine.

Meanwhile, the Small Stage and the Gedang Stage will be used as a location for regional art and culture performances.

So that the Danau Dendam Tak Sudah area is not only a place to enjoy the beauty of nature, but also a space for the growth of creative economy as well as the preservation of local culture.

In addition to strengthening the attraction of tourism, the arrangement of the area also supports the function of Lake Dendam Tak Sudah as an environmental education center.

The area is located in the area of the Nature Reserve and Nature Park, so its development still prioritizes the principle of environmental preservation.

Lake Dendam Tak Sudah has an area of about 577 hectares with a surface area of water reaching 67 hectares.

The location is in the Dusun Besar Village, Singaran Pati District, about 5.2 kilometers or about 15 minutes away from the center of Bengkulu City.

The arrangement of the area was carried out with a budget of Rp. 37.12 billion sourced from the State Budget (APBN) for the 2026 Fiscal Year (TA).

The project started on May 21, 2026 and is targeted to be completed on December 31, 2026.

The PU Ministry hopes that this arrangement will be able to increase tourist visits, strengthen the competitiveness of Bengkulu tourism, open new jobs, increase the income of MSMEs and maintain the sustainability of culture and the environment in the Lake of Unending Revenge area.
