Rosan Reveals the Difference in Export Prices Has Ever Reached 30 Percent

AKARTA - The government has found an average difference of more than 30 percent between the export prices reported by business actors and the index prices. The difference was detected after cross-ministerial and agency export data were consolidated on one platform.

Minister of Mineral Resources and Investment/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani said that monitoring had been carried out since June 1 for coal, palm oil, ferroalloys, and their derivatives.

"The gap was previously an average of about 30 percent more, now with the index very close," said Rosan at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday (20/7).

He gave an example of exports of RBD olein, a palm oil product. So far, the reported price at the time of sale is quite different from the market index.

The government previously had difficulty comparing data because export information, payment of duties, taxes, and trade volume were spread across a number of institutions. The data is now collected from the Customs, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and other institutions.

According to Rosan, the new system allows the government to monitor prices every day. When a difference is found, the platform will send an alert to the relevant agencies.

"Now we can see the selling price according to the market or below the market price. Because until now what has happened is below the index price," he said.

The monitoring is still in the evaluation period of three months. Rosan has not mentioned the export value indicated using prices below the index or the potential state revenue that can be saved.
