Pertamina Drilling Successfully Conducts First Water Injectivity Test at Jatibarang Field
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (Pertamina Drilling) has successfully carried out the first Water Injectivity Test (WIT) at JTB-156 Well, Jatibarang Field, Pertamina EP Regional 2 Zone 7.
This WIT is the result of collaboration between PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), PT Pertamina EP Regional 2 Zone 7 and Pertamina Drilling in strengthening the capacity of readiness for the implementation of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in the Pertamina Group.
VP Business Development Pertamina Drilling, Dedi Damhuri, menyampaikan bahwa Pertamina Drilling terus memperkuat dukungan pengembangan CCS/CCUS melalui ICESS (Integrated CCS/CCUS, Engineering, Supervisory & Services).
"Through ICESS, Pertamina Drilling presents a one-stop-service that provides integrated solutions to support the development of CCS/CCUS in the Pertamina Group," said Dedi in a statement to the media, Monday, July 20.
This WIT is also part of Waterflood Optimization (WFO) using water from the Balongan IPAL processing as well as supporting the preparation for the implementation of CCS in the Pertamina Group. The data obtained will be the basis for the development of WFO and reference for evaluating the ability of the reservoir to receive CO₂ injection in future CCS projects.
Principle Specialist Upstream Innovation and Low Carbon Pertamina (Persero), Dewi Mersitarini, explained that WIT's work targets pumping up to 600 barrels of water with operating pressure below fracture pressure and is completed in one to two days.
"The collaboration of the Pertamina Group in this activity is the key to preparing the implementation of CCS and CCUS while prioritizing the aspect of occupational safety. The results of the WIT will be used as analog data to strengthen the evaluation and simulation of the reservoir's ability to receive and store CO₂ for the purpose of permanent storage and production enhancement efforts," said Dewi.
