Trump asks Britain to start oil production in the North Sea

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump again urged the British Government to immediately start oil production in the North Sea area in order to boost the country's economy.

Bloomberg previously reported that British Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans to approve a number of new oil exploitation projects in the waters.

Burnham was elected the new leader of the Labour Party, the current ruling party in the UK, last Friday (17/7). This opens the way for him to lead the government.

He is scheduled to be sworn in as Britain's new prime minister on Monday (20/7), replacing Keir Starmer who resigned on June 22.

"The new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, has stated he will fully open (access to) the highly valuable North Sea Oil!" Trump said via his social media platform, Truth Social.

He said the region is one of the largest sources of quality oil in the world that still has production capacity for the next hundred years, providing plenty of room to find new oil reserves.

Trump claimed the move would bring major changes to the British economy.

"This will transform Britain, from a (disaster-stricken) Poverty-stricken country, into one of the Richest countries than any other country in the World!" he added.

Trump is known to have repeatedly advised the British Government to increase its oil exploitation in the North Sea.
