Already in China, this is the reason why Leapmotor has not brought REEV technology to Indonesia

JAKARTA - The national automotive market is becoming more varied after various manufacturers bring new models, to superior technology both BEV to Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV).

One of the Chinese brands, Leapmotor, actually has this technology (BEV) in its lineup.

According to Leapmotor Indonesia Brand Head, Samuel Christian Wowor, Leapmotor has currently studied various aspects before determining which products will be marketed.

"Currently we are still focusing on BEVs. After studying with the team, we see the most appropriate strategy is to strengthen the penetration of pure electric vehicles first," he said when met in the PIK area some time ago.

Furthermore, he said, the two Leapmotor flagship models will be produced in CKD in Indonesia. Therefore, the company must consider the readiness of the production process.

"Because these two models are directly produced in Indonesia, of course we also have to consider the production process. The production scheme of BEV and REEV is different," he added.

As previously reported, Leapmotor itself has already presented the B10 model and plans to add other models that will be present at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2026 (GIIAS).

So, currently Leapmotor is still studying various aspects before launching the product to the market, and currently still focuses on bringing pure electric car models.
