Israeli Products from the Occupied Palestinian Territories Banned from Entering Belgium
JAKARTA - The Belgian government announced a ban on the import of products originating from the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel.
According to the Belgian News Agency, Belga, quoted from WAFA, Saturday, June 18, the Belgian federal government discussed imports from the Palestinian occupied territories in a cabinet meeting before deciding on the ban.
Belga reported that the meeting lasted until early Saturday, July 18, and the import ban was approved as part of the final cabinet decision before the summer recess.
This decision was taken after the European Union recently issued instructions aimed at enforcing a 2004 decision on products from the Israeli occupation territories.
The ruling states that a number of products produced in colonies in the West Bank and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights do not meet the provisions for customs exemption.
