Dona Beach Bridge in Aceh Still Rebuilt Even Though It Is Not a PU Ministry Asset

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is rebuilding the Dona Beach Bridge in the South Aceh Regency even though the infrastructure is an asset of the South Aceh Regency Government (Pemkab).

This step was taken to accelerate the recovery of community connectivity which had been cut off due to the disaster.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said the government continues to accelerate the rehabilitation and reconstruction of post-disaster infrastructure in Aceh.

In addition to ensuring that all national roads are back in operation, the PU Ministry is also accelerating the permanent handling of regional bridges that are still temporary.

"National roads have returned to 100 percent functional and permanent handling of regional bridges that are still temporary will be accelerated so that connectivity is fully recovered," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Saturday, July 18.

"We also continue to coordinate with local governments, ministries/institutions and all related parties so that rehabilitation and reconstruction work can run faster and more integrated," he continued.

Although the Dona Beach Bridge is an asset of the East Aceh Regency Government, the PU Ministry has started the construction of a permanent bridge since December 10, 2025.

The work is carried out by PT Adhi Karya (Persero) together with local service providers with a target completion date of December 31, 2026.

Acting Head of the Aceh National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) Zulkarnaini said that as of July 15, 2026, the physical progress of the Dona Beach Bridge construction had reached 43.25 percent and was still in accordance with the schedule set.

"Work continues and progress is still in line with the target. Hopefully, with the handling of the Dona Beach Bridge, it will reconnect the community's connectivity that was cut off due to the disaster," he explained.

Currently, a number of major works have been completed, including preboring and trenching at points P1, A1, P2 and A2.

Meanwhile, preboring and excavation work at P3 point, P1 cap pile piling and caisson, P3 land preparation to casting of P2 SPP filling is still ongoing.

To accelerate construction, the project is supported by various heavy equipment such as excavators, preboring and designing tools, mobile cranes, batching plants, truck mixers, and a number of other supporting equipment.

The PU Ministry stated that it would continue to coordinate with the South East Aceh Regency Government and all stakeholders so that the construction of the Dona Beach Bridge could be completed according to the target.

The presence of the permanent bridge is expected to be able to restore community connectivity in a comprehensive manner, as well as support social and economic activities in disaster-affected areas.
