UB Partners with CNGR and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Strengthen Industrial Processing and Prepare Excellent Human Resources
JAKARTA - Brawijaya University (UB) strengthens its commitment to supporting the industrialization of national industries through exploratory strategic cooperation with Advanced Material Company, CNGR Indonesia and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). The tripartite collaboration is focused on the development of technological innovation, research, and human resource development (HRD) that supports national energy and mineral industry resilience.
The exploration of cooperation was carried out in the context of a two-day working visit to the UB Campus, Malang. The meeting was initiated by an audience between the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, with the university's leadership with representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and CNGR Indonesia.
The series of activities on the first day began with a high-level audience with the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc. This strategic meeting was also attended by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Internationalization of UB, Prof. Andi Kurniawan, S.Pi., M.Eng., D.Sc., and the Secretary of the UB Cooperation Directorate, P.M. Erza Killian, S.I.P., M.IEF., Ph.D. Meanwhile, from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Moch. Syamsul Hadi, SP., MP, as a representative of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the National Energy Diversification and Energy Security Task Force.
In the meeting, the Rector of UB, Rector of Brawijaya University, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc. emphasized the importance of partnerships between universities, governments, and industries so that research results can be implemented in a tangible way for national development.
"Brawijaya University is exploring the opening of new study programs that focus on advanced materials or advanced material technology to meet the needs of downstream industries," explained Prof. Widodo, Thursday, July 15.
In addition, UB also explained the plan to develop a new campus in Kepanjen, Malang Regency.
"Kamous will later be projected to become a center for education in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to support the strengthening of research and innovation," he added.
On the second day, the discussion continued through a coordination meeting involving various faculties and study programs in the UB environment. The forum discussed opportunities for long-term cooperation that was in line with the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, ranging from education, research, to community service.
As a concrete step, Universitas Brawijaya will form a cross-disciplinary task force (satgas) with CNGR Indonesia to draft a road map for cooperation and implementation of the program which is targeted to start running in the second half of 2026. The technical team has also begun drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) draft as well as the concept of the Community Development program.
Moch. Syamsul Hadi, SP., MP, as representative of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the National Energy and Energy Security Acceleration Task Force, emphasized the government's support for synergy between universities and industry.
"In the near future, the three parties plan to sign a tripartite MoU at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as an initial step to strengthen technological innovation, human resource development, and acceleration of the downstreaming of the mineral industry in Indonesia," explained Syamsul Hadi.
