Kremlin Denies Russia Interfered in US Election
JAKARTA - The Kremlin on Friday rejected accusations that Russia interfered in the US election, saying previous American investigations had found no evidence that Moscow had influenced the outcome, state news agency TASS reported.
Speaking to reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said US President Donald Trump was referring to unspecified and unfounded intelligence claims when he described Russia as a threat to the US election.
"The fact is that the president refers to some information, anonymous information, unfounded information from the US intelligence agencies," Peskov said, launching Anadolu (17/7).
Further, Peskov said, several US investigations have concluded that Russia "has no influence" on the US election.
He added that Moscow had never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries and expected other countries not to interfere in Russia's domestic affairs.
Previously, President Trump called Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea "enemies" who have the ability to harm the US "election infrastructure".
"As an assessment, we conclude that US adversaries, including at least Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and other non-state groups, have the ability to disrupt US election infrastructure," he said.
The US president claimed this revelation showed the electoral system was "so broken and so vulnerable" that no one could defend it.
"Hundreds of millions of US voter files are currently in the hands of foreign governments," said President Trump.
