US Strikes Iranian Maritime Tower in Chabahar for Third Time
JAKARTA - The United States (US) military has attacked a maritime control tower in the Iranian city of Chabahar for the third time this week.
The attack was carried out by hitting the tower with missiles, as reported by the state news agencies Fars News and IRIB.
This tower is mainly used for search and rescue operations involving fishermen at sea as well as to ensure maritime security.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth uploaded a picture on X showing the tower collapsing. The upload was a continuation of a previous post, "Iran does not control (the Strait of Hormuz)."
CNN on Friday, July 17, obtained and geolocated a video showing a drone flying over a populated area in Chabahar, while a plume of smoke was seen rising in the distance.
Chabahar, which lies on the northern coast of the Gulf of Oman, was attacked in the early stages of the war, but has now become a more frequent target since the ceasefire agreement failed to hold.
