FA Still Support Thomas Tuchel Even Though England Was Eliminated in the 2026 World Cup Semifinals

JAKARTA - Thomas Tuchel is rumored to remain as England's head coach until Euro 2028 after still receiving support from the English Football Association (FA) despite being eliminated in the 2026 World Cup semifinals, Thursday, July 16, 2026, early morning WIB.

The 60-year wait for the Three Lions to win the World Cup trophy continues after Argentina came from behind to win 2-1 in Atlanta and advance to the final against Spain.

England took the lead 1-0 through Anthony Gordon's goal in the 55th minute, but Enzo Fernandez equalised in the 85th minute before Lautaro Martinez's header in the second minute of injury time snatched a dramatic victory.

Tuchel is tied to the club until 2028 after signing a contract extension before the 2026 World Cup. ESPN reported that the FA wanted him to continue despite England failing to reach the goal of winning the major tournament for the second time in their history.

"It's so sad to be so close. The players and Thomas gave everything. The squad, coach, and staff worked harder during the tournament."

"I want to thank them all and express my sincere thanks to our incredible fans in the United States and at home."

"We feel your support at every step and we are all very disappointed that we can't go any further," FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham said in a statement.

England will face France in the third-place match on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Miami and Tuchel vowed to continue his adventure into the next Euro, which will be hosted by England, Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.

"First of all, the 2026 World Cup is not over. There are still games to be played (the third place match against France), which we actually don't really look forward to, but there are still games to be played."

"Then we keep moving forward. I have a contract until Euro at home. I'm looking forward to it even though it's hard to think that far now," he said.
