NMAX Burns While Driving Owner, Damkar Suspects Due to Short Circuit in Body Cable

JAKARTA - A Yamaha NMAX motorcycle unit was burned while passing on Jalan Kedondong Raya, Sunter Jaya Village, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta, Thursday, July 16, 2026.

"The suspected cause is due to a short circuit in the motor's body cable, then it catches the motor part and gets bigger," said Kasiop Sudin Gulkarmat North Jakarta and Thousand Islands, Gatot Sulaeman.

The fire extinguishing process was carried out with one fire truck with 5 personnel deployed.

"The blackout lasted about 15 minutes," he said.

As a result of the incident, the owner of the motorcycle named Arnis Septiani suffered a loss of Rp. 15 million.

"The fire started when the reporter (motorbike owner) was riding his motorbike. Then someone saw that there was a fire under the motorbike in question," he said.

In an instant, the ignition grew larger and the person concerned asked for help from the fire department.

"So at that time it happened that the officers were extinguishing a fire around the location of the burning motorcycle. The firefighters immediately extinguished the fire using apar and continued to use water from the North Jakarta Mayor's Post unit," he said.

The officers also managed to put out the Yamaha NMAX motorcycle. There were no casualties or injuries due to the fire.
