DPR asks Halim Airport taxiway to be repaired, waiting time for aircraft can be reduced by 30 minutes

Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sudjatmiko, asked the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Air Transportation (Ditjen Hubud) to immediately repair the taxiway infrastructure at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to increase operational efficiency of flights.

Sudjatmiko also highlighted the existence of a taxiway crossing to the runway, which was considered to be one of the causes of the delay in the takeoff and landing process of aircraft at Halim Airport.

This condition causes the waiting time for the plane to be longer, thereby increasing the consumption of avtur and impacting the airline's operating costs.

"This issue needs immediate attention. The arrangement of the taxiway is not only to facilitate aircraft traffic, but also to increase operational efficiency and reduce flight costs," said Sudjatmiko.

According to him, operational efficiency in the air transportation sector must be a concern of the government, given the high mobility of the community which requires safe, fast, and timely flight services.

Sudjatmiko explained that the construction and changes to infrastructure on the air side of Halim Airport were the authority of the Directorate General of Air Transportation together with the airport operator.

Therefore, he asked the Ministry of Transportation to immediately prepare concrete steps through technical studies, design preparation, and budget allocation so that the problem can be immediately resolved.

In the discussion of the RDP, it also emerged that the proposed arrangement and addition of taxiways are expected to be included in the 2027 budget planning.

However, until now, the technical details, budget amount, and financing mechanism are still in the drafting stage.

Based on the exposure in the meeting, it is estimated that the arrangement of the infrastructure will be able to reduce the waiting time for aircraft operations by around 20 to 30 minutes, so that the take-off and landing process becomes more efficient and has the potential to reduce jet fuel consumption.

Sudjatmiko also emphasized the importance of cross-agency coordination in realizing the plan, including with airport operators, the Indonesian Air Force, and related ministries.

According to him, inter-institutional synergy is an important factor so that the planning process to the implementation of development can run according to target.

He hopes that the Ministry of Transportation will immediately follow up on the results of the RDP by preparing a comprehensive feasibility study and planning documents.

Thus, the improvement of the Halim Airport taxiway is expected to be able to increase operational efficiency of flights, strengthen safety, and provide better air transportation services for the community.
